Getting started
This page shows you how to sign in, what each permission lets you do, and how to ask for access.
Signing in
- Open Chandler in your web browser. Engineering will give you the address.
- Click Sign in.
- Sign in with your ExactNet work account. This is the same account you use for email. Microsoft may also ask for your second factor, such as an approval in the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone.
- Chandler opens the dashboard.
If Chandler shows You don't have access yet instead, you need a permission first. See Asking for access.
Only ExactNet staff accounts can use Chandler. If you were invited from another company as a guest, Chandler shows Guest accounts can't use Chandler. See Guest accounts can't use Chandler.
You stay signed in while you use Chandler. If you do nothing for 2 hours, Chandler signs you out. After 8 hours you always need to sign in again, even if you were busy. About every hour, Chandler also checks quietly with Microsoft that your account is still allowed in. You don't see this check unless something changed.
What each permission lets you do
Chandler has three permissions. They are separate: having one does not give you the others. Admin is a shortcut that gives you all three at once; while the team is small, most people have Admin.
Admin
You can do everything below: look things up, manage customers, licenses and staff access, and publish releases. Give this to the people who run Chandler day to day.
Viewer
You can look at everything in Chandler: customers, licenses, releases and the dashboard. You can't change anything.
Give this to anyone who needs to answer questions such as "Does this customer have a Trawler license?"
License admin
You can add customers and manage their licenses. You can also see the audit log and manage staff access: sign people out, or turn their access off.
Give this to people who set up and look after customer accounts.
Release publisher
You can publish new versions of our products so that customers can download them, and withdraw a version if something is wrong with it.
Give this to people who ship product updates.
Asking for access
Permissions are given by IT, through your ExactNet work account. Chandler itself can't give them out.
- Ask your manager to request Chandler access for you from IT.
- Say which permission you need: Admin (everything), or just Viewer, License admin or Release publisher. See the list above if you are not sure.
- When IT confirms, sign out of Chandler and sign in again. Your new permission appears after you sign in.
If you sign in before you have a permission, Chandler shows You don't have access yet. Nothing is wrong: follow the steps above.
Signing out
Click Sign out at the top right of any page. Always sign out on a shared computer.
After you sign out
Chandler shows its sign-in page with the message You have signed out. You are now signed out of Chandler.
You may still be signed in to your Microsoft work account in this browser. If you click Sign in again, Chandler might let you straight back in without asking for your password.
On a shared computer, click Sign out of my work account too on that page. Microsoft then signs you out of your work account in this browser as well. It brings you back to Chandler's sign-in page afterwards. You may then need to sign in again to email and other Microsoft apps in that browser.
